Antepenultimate

The game would end with an incredible diving catch by the rookie left fielder, launching one of the best fielding careers in history. The second to last out of the game was also quite extraordinary - a would be home run smacks a bird and falls into the outfielder's glove. But it is the antepenultimate play of this game that concerns me. The third from the last. That's where I come in.

Decathect

Jerry's problem was his extreme and unfaltering devotion. He still treated the island like it was his forever. Even though it was about to sink under the ocean and disappear into the folds of the Earth, he refused to come to terms. He could not decathect. When the island finally dropped under, it was going to devastate him.

It's been nearly a week we've spent out here, floating. Adrift, underneath the sky, and aimless. This is the time when you come along, and give us a purpose. Soon, we find the shore and moor the boat. It's not going anywhere and we're back among civilization.

Anopisthograph

44 days passed, stuck inside the library room alcove. The disaster had ruined the entire city, and I was stuck in the jail cell sized room filled with paper. I documented my experiences in an anopisthograph - the paper was rather thin, and my writing utensil was a pretty thick marker, so the back of the paper wasn't really usable after the front was filled.

Pontificate

We're stuck in this room for hours. I think I'd be able to handle it if it weren't for Jack's tendency to pontificate every time a thought enters his mind. I'm forced to listen to his whole diatribe, and all I want to do is sew his mouth shut.

What would I do on train rides? Or trips via airplane? What would I do before I go to bed at night? What would I do on the park bench on a sunny day? How would I pass the time in the world where biblioklepts roam free? Book thievery, unchecked, would surely be a nightmare to impatient and imaginative souls everywhere.

deflagrate

Sean John tossed the bauble back into the water, one more round of this aquatic, inter-special game of catch. The shark fin coasted along the surface. The outline of the shark was clear in the flawless tropical water. But as Sean John watched, the sharks body seemed to shimmer. The underwater view was obstructed. Sean John heard a hollow noise. The air seemed to shift. In one horrible instant the pristine water deflagrated. Flames engulfed the shark. The water turned into a roaring inferno. Someone had sabotaged Sean John's sharks aquatic playground.

Endochiridion

True, Sean John was the world's first and greatest shark tamer, perhaps the only person who could fit that phrase with no doubt. But since the rapid spread of his worldwide popularity, it was inevitable that some inspired individuals attempted to duplicate Sean John's unique talents. Sean John did not encourage this. He did not put together an endochiridion for his wannabe shark tamer apostles to study.

larrup

Little Timmy stared out at the vast ocean. If he had both working legs like all the other kids, he could swim to that island across the channel too. It just wasn't fair. He watched the waves break against the rocky shore. The waters' motions grew wilder. Soon Timmy saw a dark shadow moving under the waters, and the water larruped against the land violently. The child limped closer, his cast clanking along the gravel beneath. Suddenly one giant shape shot through the surface of the water -- little Timmy couldn't believe his eyes! Sean-John the Shark Tamer was riding one of his great whites, hands grasped around the fin, legs straddling the giant beast. Both creatures landed gracefully on the surface and made their way toward Timmy....

bona fide

The tall man cut through the ocean surface. His upright torso outlined the foaming water, splashing around him as he cut through it. His long arms extended, he embraced the sky. There was nothing mechanical about Sean John's propulsion: just a 12 foot long shark. A shark tamed by the world's best shark tamer.

These were the bona fides.

Reconnoiter

It was up to Sean John now. Meawahuahua lay incapacitated in the boat's cabin, stuck in the throes of labor. The little baby of the prophecy was about to be born. They needed to get to the sacred temple, and fast. The waterways narrowed ahead, thinning into streams between tiny islands.

Sean John touched a button on his belt, ran to the deck of the ship boat and dove gracefully into the water. In seconds, Sean John was cutting the water's surface, riding on the back of the shark that turned 10 years old today. sean john sped ahead through the waterwaya to reconnoiter and determine the beat path for the boat.

Grouse

Tully was not one who was easily concerned. So when Sean-John heard him grouse about the hut where his team was being housed, it was time to speak up.

"Listen here Talawalahawee," Sean John approached the chief, "your people have problems with the islanders across the bay and the allegiance of the creatures in the sea, I know. But your poor treatment to my staff has got to stop."

The chief sat and stared. The fire burning behind him in the stone temple alcove crackled. More leaves were tossed in the fire, and the heat breezed across Sean John's face. It was warm, and getting warmer. Talawalahawee did not move. Sean-John was left with only one option. The challenge.

"Then, you leave me no choice." Sean John rotated to address the chief and his entire village. His voice rang out amongst the trees, the sand, and the beaches.

"BEFORE TO EYES OF THE GODS AND THE EARS OF THE DEAD. I REQUEST MY RIGHT TO PALALALOBAI!"

Pyknik

Short and squat, fleshy, mud-colored, with an overall pyknik shape - and bedecked in flashy jewelry stabbed through skin on ears, necks, cheeks, noses, elbows, eyelids, lips, nipples... Anywhere flesh could be poked. This was the look of the men of the island.

Boon

If it wasn't for Davis, the little gaffe with the aquatic acrobatics and the village trial leader would have turned the entire community against Sean John. But thanks to his cultural brilliance, the event was seen as a great for Sean John relations boon all over Brazil.

Eudemonia

Sean John stared at the doctor. "So what you're saying, doc, is that I've been filling my own life with the life from the ocean as a kind of replacement for my childhood lack? "

The doctor nodded. His German accent emerged when delineating scientific jargon. "it is only through mastery of the seemingly uncontrollable object -in your case, the wild creatures of the sea - that you are able t achieve eudemonia. "

Luxate

He could see the tiny fin luxate as Sean John worked his hands along the injured baby shark. The shark tamer's excitement in the water was matched only by his halcyon on the examination table.

Remit

The water would slosh wildly for several seconds, sometimes even a whole minute, before the struggle would remit. The water becomes calm once more, and Sean John emerges from below astride the finned beast: another shark tamed.

Furcate

As she looked at the man riding the shark across the bay, bringing the supplies that the islander's needed to stay alive in this crisis, she knew that Sean-John's path and her's were going were furcate lines. She wouldn't be able to remain by his side for much longer. She stared at the sun.
